On December 14th at 8:30pm Barnegat Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on Route 9 at West Bay Ave. Callers reported that a vehicle had struck a fire hydrant and sideswiped two utility poles.
Patrolman Nicholas Dapuzzo arrived on scene and determined that Joseph Ondusko 3rd, 32, of Manahawkin had been driving his 2003 Toyota Tacoma northbound on Route 9 when he left the roadway, sideswiped two utility poles, a mailbox, a street sign, and finally a fire hydrant before coming to rest in the area of 338 North Main Street.
Patrolman Dapuzzo determined that Ondusko, who was uninjured in the collision, was under the influence of alcohol and placed him under arrest for DWI. Ondusko’s vehicle was impounded in accordance with John’s Law. Ondusko was processed and released with summonses for failure to maintain lane, DWI, and reckless driving.
